Mayday Hansa Rescue Board

Ice, Unstable Ground and Soft Surfaces Training

Ice, Unstable Ground and Soft Surfaces Training will encompass indentifying the hazards, risks and controls relating to first responder personnel working on or near ice and unstable ground. Although the two types of incident may be very different, they are considered in the same GRA because of the similarities in the equipment and procedures used.

Ice is considered a definitive term although this will almost always need to be dealt with in conjunction with working near, on or in water. When considering the term unstable ground this includes such substances as sand, mud, gravel, earth, slurry. Other unstable ground environments will include collapsed structures involving rubble and debris and food substances such as rice grain or flour - however we do not deal with these.

We train students to be able to deal with these situations and tactically conduct the operations.

Mayday Hansa Rescue Board

This is a first class addition to the water rescue tool kit which we highly recommend, this course is to introduce students to the use of the board and be confident that the users and or instructors have sufficient knowledge, skills and understanding upon which to base their Mayday Hansa Board deployments.

All potential instructors will need to have attended e.g. a "Swiftwater Rescue Technician Class" (or similar equivalent) within the last three years. If this course has not been attended then it can be added on to the Mayday Hansa Board class to make a five day delivery package.

At the end of the Instructor course students will be certified by us as able to introduce others in the use of the Hansa Board.
